Your Questions Answered

What method of counseling is best for me?

You can choose either in-person or virtual care. Virtual care is also known as telehealth, online therapy, online counseling, or telemental health. If you choose virtual care, you can use your cell phone, tablet, or computer. Once you begin your sessions, your therapist may recommend one method over another based on your situation.

How do I prepare for my session?

To ensure your visit goes smoothly, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your session when visiting in-person. For virtual appointments, please find a private space to talk freely, make sure you are parked in a safe location if in a car, and have a stable internet connection. Visits will be rescheduled if you are driving.

When is virtual care not appropriate?

Virtual care should not be used while driving or in a location where you cannot talk freely. It’s not suitable for psychiatric emergencies, severe substance use, acute withdrawal, violent behavior, or psychotic symptoms. In such cases, please seek immediate help by calling 911, visiting an ER, or contacting the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.

Are there age or geographical restrictions?

Virtual care is not available for children under age 13, and parents or guardians must attend the initial visit if the client is a minor. We currently serve clients in Michigan and Ohio.

Will my information be kept private?

Our services are HIPAA-compliant, ensuring secure, non-recorded sessions. Your information will remain confidential. However, if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, necessary information may be shared with those who can help keep you safe.
